Why Parents in New Delhi Choose Young Star Defence Academy

Delhi is home to some of India’s most competitive students and parents. Yet, when it comes to Sainik School preparation, parents consistently choose Young Star Defence Academy over local coaching options. Here is why.

Expert Faculty with Defence Education Experience

Our faculty includes subject experts with years of experience teaching AISSEE, RMS, and RIMC entrance exams. Teachers are selected not only for academic knowledge but for their ability to work with young students aged 10 to 14. Each teacher follows a structured daily plan, tracks individual progress, and adjusts their teaching approach based on each child’s learning pace.

Small Batches for Individual Attention

We keep batch sizes small so that every student gets personalised attention. In a large coaching centre, a slow learner can silently fall behind. At Young Star Defence Academy, teachers identify gaps early and conduct remedial sessions before the next topic is introduced.

Daily Practice, Not Just Lectures

AISSEE success depends on speed and accuracy, not just understanding. Our daily schedule includes worksheet practice, timed exercises, and topic-wise tests after every chapter. Students build exam temperament through routine, not cramming.

Physical Training Included

Sainik Schools do not just test academics. Physical fitness is central to the selection process. Our residential programme includes daily PT, yoga, and sports so students arrive physically and mentally prepared for the Sainik School environment they are aspiring to enter.

Mock Interviews and Personality Development

Many students clear the written exam but lose out at the interview stage. We conduct structured mock interview sessions, group discussions, and personality development classes to prepare students for the SSB-style interaction expected at Sainik Schools.

Parent Communication and Progress Reports

For residential students, parents receive weekly progress updates, monthly performance reports, and direct teacher access via phone or WhatsApp. Delhi parents who enrol their child in our Amritsar hostel never feel disconnected from their child’s preparation.

What is a Sainik School?

Sainik Schools are residential schools run under the Sainik Schools Society, which functions under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The first Sainik School was established in 1961 with the goal of creating a feeder channel for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and preparing young students for a career in the Indian Armed Forces.

Today, there are over 33 military schools in India, including Sainik School Chail in Himachal Pradesh, Sainik School Kapurthala in Punjab, and Sainik School Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh โ€” all of which are popular choices among Delhi families due to proximity.

Benefits of Sainik School Education

  • Structured residential life that builds discipline, focus, and leadership from an early age
  • Strong academic foundation with CBSE curriculum delivered by experienced faculty
  • Sports, physical training, and extracurricular activities as part of the daily schedule
  • A direct pathway to the National Defence Academy (NDA) and commissioned officer rank in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force
  • Alumni network of senior defence officers who actively support and mentor current students
  • Subsidised fee structure for Sainik Schools compared to top boarding schools in India offering similar quality of education
  • Character development, time management, and resilience built through structured hostel life

Sainik Schools and the NDA Pathway

A significant percentage of NDA cadets every year come from Sainik Schools. The discipline, physical fitness, and academic preparation that students receive over six to seven years in a Sainik School give them a measurable advantage in the NDA entrance exam and the SSB interview process. Enrolling a child in a Sainik School at Class 6 or Class 9 is one of the most effective decisions a parent can make if the family aspires toward a defence career.

Why Residential Coaching Works Better Than Home Study

Many parents in Delhi initially prefer keeping their child at home and managing coaching locally. After a few months, they often find that distraction, lack of routine, and inconsistent practice are holding the child back. Here is why residential coaching consistently produces better results for AISSEE.

  • Fixed daily schedule: Students wake up, study, exercise, eat, and sleep at fixed times. This builds the discipline that Sainik Schools themselves value and that the entrance exam rewards.
  • No screen distractions: Mobile phones, gaming, and social media are the biggest enemies of consistent preparation. In a residential campus, these distractions are controlled.
  • Peer learning environment: When a student sees classmates solving problems faster, it creates healthy motivation. Study groups, peer quizzes, and competitive mock tests drive performance in a way that solo home study cannot.
  • Immediate doubt resolution: In a residential setup, a student who gets stuck on a problem at 8 PM can ask the warden on duty to connect with a teacher. There is no “I’ll ask tomorrow” delay.
  • Physical fitness as part of the day: AISSEE candidates must be physically fit. Our daily PT and sports hour ensures students arrive at their Sainik School physical test ready and confident.
  • Mental resilience: Living away from home, managing one’s own time, and learning to handle challenges independently builds the character that Sainik School life demands from Day 1.

Online Coaching for Delhi Students โ€” How It Works

We understand that not every family is ready to send a 10- or 13-year-old child to Amritsar. Our online coaching programme is designed to give Delhi students the same quality of preparation from the comfort of their home.

What the Online Programme Includes

  • Live interactive classes conducted by the same faculty teaching residential batches, 5โ€“6 days a week
  • Session recordings available for 7 days after each class, so students never miss a topic
  • Printed study material delivered by courier to your Delhi address within 3โ€“5 working days of enrolment
  • Weekly online mock tests on a dedicated test portal with automated scoring and answer-key analysis
  • Monthly parent-teacher interaction via video call or phone, with a detailed progress report
  • WhatsApp doubt group where students can share questions and get responses within 24 hours on working days
  • Current affairs and GK updates shared every week as a structured PDF capsule

Technology and Access

Students need a tablet or laptop, a stable internet connection, and a quiet study space at home. All class links and materials are shared via WhatsApp and our student portal. Technical onboarding is done on Day 1 with a 30-minute orientation call.

Hostel Facilities at Our Amritsar Campus

Parents from Delhi who choose our residential programme often visit the campus before enrolling. Here is a complete overview of what our hostel provides.

Our Faculty

The quality of teaching is the single most important factor in AISSEE preparation. At Young Star Defence Academy, faculty selection is rigorous. Every teacher must demonstrate subject mastery, classroom communication ability, and genuine interest in mentoring young students.

  • Mathematics: Faculty with B.Ed. and subject specialisation, trained in the specific AISSEE Mathematics syllabus for Class 5 and Class 8 levels, with focus on mental maths, speed, and problem-solving technique.
  • English: Grammar and comprehension specialists who work specifically on the AISSEE question pattern, including fill-in-the-blanks, passage-based questions, vocabulary, and sentence correction.
  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs: Dedicated GK faculty who update content weekly, covering static GK, Indian geography, history, science facts, and current affairs relevant to the AISSEE pattern.
  • Intelligence and Reasoning: Specialists in logical reasoning, pattern recognition, analogy, and verbal/non-verbal reasoning who build this skill progressively from basic to advanced.
  • Physical Training Instructor: A trained PTI conducts daily fitness sessions and prepares students for the physical assessment that Sainik Schools conduct after written exam results.

Teaching Methodology

We follow a teach-practise-test cycle for every topic. A new topic is introduced with concept clarity, followed by solved examples, then student-attempted practice sets, and finally a topic test. Errors from the test are reviewed in the next session before the next topic begins. No student is left with unresolved doubts from one session to the next.

Study Material

Our study material is developed in-house and updated every year to reflect the latest AISSEE exam pattern and syllabus. It is designed to be self-sufficient โ€” a student who completes all material provided will not need to purchase any additional books or guides.

  • Chapter-wise printed notes for Mathematics, English, GK, and Intelligence
  • Solved examples with step-by-step explanation
  • Practice exercise sets โ€” Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced level
  • Previous 10 years’ AISSEE papers with detailed answer keys
  • Topic-wise question banks (500+ questions per subject)
  • Revision booklets for last-month preparation
  • Weekly current affairs capsule (PDF, also printed for residential students)
  • GK quick-reference digest covering static topics: capitals, rivers, sports, awards, science

Online students receive all printed material by courier. Residential students receive it on Day 1 of the programme.

Mock Test Programme

Mock tests are the backbone of serious AISSEE preparation. Knowing the syllabus is not enough โ€” students must be able to recall answers quickly, manage time across sections, and stay calm under test conditions. Our mock test programme is structured to build all three.

Test Schedule

  • Weekly topic tests: 30-minute tests covering the topic taught in the past week, conducted every Saturday
  • Bi-weekly sectional tests: Full-section tests (e.g., full Mathematics paper) conducted every two weeks
  • Monthly full-length mock tests: Complete AISSEE-pattern paper under exam conditions, timed, with OMR sheet practice
  • Grand Test Series: 5 full-length mock tests in the final 6 weeks before the exam, simulating actual exam day conditions

Performance Analysis

After every mock test, students receive a detailed performance report showing section-wise accuracy, time taken per question, rank among batch students, and comparison with previous tests. Weak areas are flagged for targeted revision. Parents receive monthly performance summaries. You can also practice with our free AISSEE mock tests online.

Why Delhi Students Prefer Studying in Amritsar

Many parents are surprised when they hear that Delhi families are deliberately choosing to send their children to Amritsar for AISSEE coaching. There are solid reasons why this works extremely well.

  • Peaceful, lower-stimulation environment: Amritsar does not have the urban chaos of Delhi. The pace is slower, distractions are fewer, and students find it easier to maintain long study hours without fatigue.
  • Strong defence culture: Amritsar and the broader Punjab region have a deeply rooted tradition of military service. This cultural environment creates a natural sense of purpose and pride that motivates students preparing for defence careers.
  • Affordable residential life: Living costs in Amritsar are significantly lower than in Delhi. Families who might not be able to afford private residential schools in Delhi find that our programme offers excellent quality at a manageable cost.
  • Safe, supervised campus: Unlike coaching centres in large cities where students commute through traffic alone, our campus is a contained, secure environment where parents never have to worry about their child’s safety.
  • Full-day structured schedule: In Delhi, even after coaching, a student returns home to an unstructured evening. In Amritsar, the entire day is productive and purposeful from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM.

Travel Guide โ€” Delhi to Amritsar

Amritsar is one of the most well-connected cities from Delhi. Families visit their children comfortably, and students travel home safely during vacations.

By Train

By Flight

Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar (ATQ) is approximately 12 km from our campus. IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet operate regular flights from Delhi (IGI Airport). Flight time is approximately 1 hour. Pickup assistance from the airport is available on request.

By Bus / Road

HRTC, Punjab Roadways, and private buses operate on the Delhiโ€“Amritsar route. Journey time by road is approximately 8 to 10 hours. The NH-44 highway route is well-maintained and safe.

Parent Visits

Parents are welcome to visit the campus on designated visiting Sundays. Campus tour, parent-teacher meeting, and student interaction are all arranged on the same day so the visit is productive.

Student Success Stories

Arjun Mehta โ€” Dwarka, New Delhi (Class 6 Selection, Sainik School Kapurthala)

Arjun joined our online coaching programme in Class 4 when his parents were unsure which coaching institute to trust. He had weak Mathematics and struggled with logical reasoning. Over 10 months of structured coaching with weekly tests and regular feedback calls with his parents, Arjun went from scoring below 60% in diagnostic tests to clearing AISSEE with a strong rank. He was allotted Sainik School Kapurthala, which was his family’s first preference given its proximity to Delhi. His mother says: “The teachers knew exactly where Arjun was struggling. They never generalised โ€” every feedback was specific to him.”

Simran Kaur โ€” Rohini, New Delhi (Class 9 Selection, Sainik School Rewari)

Simran’s family explored three coaching centres before choosing our residential programme. She joined our Amritsar campus for the 12-month Class 9 batch. Her initial performance in General Science and Social Studies was inconsistent, but the daily practice and peer competition at the hostel drove rapid improvement. She cleared AISSEE Class 9 in her first attempt and was admitted to Sainik School Rewari. Her father says: “The discipline she developed at the hostel has changed her entirely. She is more organised and focused than she was before joining.”

Rohan Sharma โ€” Noida (Class 6 Selection, Sainik School Lucknow)

Rohan joined our summer intensive batch after two months of unproductive home study. The crash course format suited him โ€” intense, structured, and goal-oriented. He responded well to the competitive batch environment, improved significantly in Mathematics and GK, and cleared AISSEE for Sainik School Lucknow โ€” which was both his and his parents’ top choice. He is now preparing for NDA through his Sainik School foundation.

What Parents Say

“We were worried about sending our 10-year-old from Delhi to Amritsar. The first campus visit resolved every doubt. The faculty is experienced, the facilities are clean, and the warden team is genuinely caring. Our son cleared AISSEE in his first attempt.”

โ€” Mr. Rajesh Bhatia, Pitampura, Delhi (Parent of Class 6 selection, Sainik School Kapurthala)

“We opted for online coaching as our daughter was only in Class 5. The live classes were interactive, the study material was comprehensive, and the mock test series was at a higher standard than the actual AISSEE paper. She scored well in all sections.”

โ€” Mrs. Anita Verma, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi (Parent of Class 6 selection)

“The counsellor explained the entire process clearly before we enrolled. There was no pressure, no over-promising. What they said they would do, they did. Monthly reports, WhatsApp access to teachers, everything was as described.”

โ€” Mr. Suresh Nair, Gurgaon (Parent of Class 9 selection, Sainik School Rewari)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sainik School coaching?

Sainik School coaching is structured academic preparation for the All India Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE), conducted by the National Testing Agency. Coaching institutes help students cover the AISSEE syllabus systematically, practise through mock tests, and prepare for the physical and interview stages that follow the written exam. Good coaching focuses on Mathematics, English, General Knowledge, and Intelligence โ€” the four tested areas for Class 6 โ€” and adds General Science and Social Studies for Class 9.

Who should join Sainik School coaching?

Any student targeting admission to a Sainik School through the AISSEE should consider coaching. The exam is competitive with lakhs of applicants for a limited number of seats across 33+ schools. Students in Class 4 or 5 targeting Class 6 admission, and students in Class 7 or 8 targeting Class 9 admission, should begin at least 8โ€“12 months before the exam to achieve consistent performance across all sections.

What is AISSEE?

AISSEE stands for All India Sainik School Entrance Examination. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence. The exam is held once a year, typically in January, and is the only route for admission into centrally administered Sainik Schools across India. Class 6 and Class 9 are the two entry points. Read our detailed AISSEE guide for complete information on dates, pattern, and registration.

Can Delhi students join your coaching without shifting to Amritsar?

Yes. Our online live coaching programme is specifically designed for students who prefer to stay at home in Delhi. Live classes run 5โ€“6 days a week, all sessions are recorded, study material is sent by courier, and weekly mock tests are conducted online. The programme delivers the same curriculum and faculty access as our residential batch, with full parent communication support.

Why choose residential coaching over home study?

Residential coaching removes the three biggest obstacles to AISSEE success: inconsistent study schedule, screen distractions, and delayed doubt resolution. At our Amritsar campus, students follow a fixed daily routine, study in a peer-competitive environment, get doubts cleared the same day, and build the physical fitness that Sainik Schools require. Students who have switched from home study to our residential programme almost universally report faster progress.

Which class can apply for AISSEE?

Students seeking Class 6 admission must be between 10 and 12 years of age as of 31 March of the admission year. Students seeking Class 9 admission must be between 13 and 15 years of age and must have completed Class 8. Both entries are through a single national exam โ€” AISSEE โ€” conducted by NTA. Age limits are confirmed in the annual official notification.

What is the age limit for AISSEE?

For Class 6 admission: the student must be born between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2016 (for the current admission cycle โ€” verify from the official NTA notification each year). For Class 9 admission: the student must be born between 1 April 2010 and 31 March 2013. Age eligibility is strictly checked and students outside the range are disqualified regardless of exam performance. See our complete Sainik School eligibility guide for category-wise details.

What subjects are covered in AISSEE coaching?

Class 6 coaching covers Mathematics (Class 5 level), English (grammar and comprehension), General Knowledge (static and current affairs), and Intelligence/Reasoning. Class 9 coaching additionally covers General Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology at Class 8 level) and Social Studies (History, Geography, Civics). See the complete Sainik School syllabus for chapter-wise breakdown. Our study material covers each subject chapter-by-chapter, and mock tests simulate the actual exam pattern for both classes.

How many mock tests are conducted?

Students appearing for our full 10โ€“12 month programme write approximately 40 to 50 tests of varying formats โ€” weekly topic tests, bi-weekly sectional tests, monthly full-length papers, and grand tests in the final 6 weeks. Crash course students write 15 to 20 tests over 90 days. All tests are followed by a performance analysis report identifying weak areas for targeted revision. You can also try our free AISSEE mock tests to assess your child’s current level.

How long should a student prepare for AISSEE?

We recommend 10 to 12 months for a comprehensive, confident preparation. Students who begin 12 months before the exam can cover the entire syllabus at a comfortable pace, practise extensively, and enter the final two months in a strong position. Students starting 6 months out should opt for an intensive programme. A crash course in 90 days is possible but requires high daily commitment and no gaps.

Is there coaching available for girls?

Yes. Following the government’s decision to open selected Sainik Schools to girl students, we have dedicated coaching batches for girls targeting co-educational Sainik Schools. The curriculum, faculty, and mock test series are the same as for boys. Girls’ hostel accommodation is available separately at our Amritsar campus with female warden supervision.

What is the distance between Delhi and Amritsar?

The road distance between Delhi and Amritsar is approximately 450 km, typically covered in 6 to 8 hours by car or bus. By train, the Shatabdi Express covers the distance in about 6 hours. By flight, it is approximately 1 hour from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, to Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar. We provide pickup assistance from the Amritsar railway station and airport on request.

Is the hostel safe for young students?

Yes. The campus is CCTV-monitored 24 hours a day, with secure entry and exit. Wardens are present in dormitories at all times. Visitor access is controlled. Parents receive a warden contact number and are informed immediately of any health or safety concern. The environment is designed to match the safety standards expected by families who cannot be physically present with their child.

How are parents kept informed about residential students?

Parents receive weekly progress messages from the class teacher via WhatsApp, monthly performance reports with section-wise test scores, and quarterly report cards. A parent-teacher video call is held every month for residential students. Parents can contact the warden at any time via phone. Emergency communication is immediate.

What is the fee for Sainik School coaching at Young Star Defence Academy?

Fee structures vary by programme type (online or residential), batch duration (3 months, 6 months, or 12 months), and class (Class 6 or Class 9). Fees are shared in detail during the free counselling call. You can also review the general fee structure for Sainik Schools to understand what to expect. We also offer instalment-based payment and scholarship support for eligible students. Call or WhatsApp us at +91 81013 13136 for current fee information.

Is RMS and RIMC coaching also available?

Yes. Young Star Defence Academy also offers coaching for the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) and the Rashtriya Military School (RMS) entrance examinations. Students from Delhi targeting RMS Chail, RMS Dholpur, RMS Belgaum, or RIMC Dehradun can enrol in our dedicated programmes. Review the RIMC admission process and RIMC syllabus to understand what preparation is needed. Visit our RIMC coaching page and RMS coaching page for details.

Does Young Star Defence Academy have a branch in Delhi?

We do not currently have a physical branch in Delhi. Our main campus is in Amritsar, Punjab, with branches in Chandigarh and Kapurthala. Delhi students access our coaching through the live online programme or by enrolling in our Amritsar residential campus. We are transparent about this โ€” we never claim a Delhi office to attract enrolments.

What study material is provided?

All students receive a full set of in-house printed notes covering every subject and chapter in the AISSEE syllabus, practice exercise sets at three difficulty levels, previous 10 years’ AISSEE papers with answer keys, topic-wise question banks, revision booklets, and weekly current affairs capsules. Online students receive printed material by courier. Residential students receive it on Day 1.

When does the next batch start?

We run batches with multiple start dates throughout the year, including post-result batches, summer batches, and new session batches in April and October. Contact us on WhatsApp to know the next available batch start date for your child’s class and preferred programme format.

Is there a free demo class?

Yes. We offer a free demo class for online students so you and your child can experience the teaching quality before making a decision. Contact us on WhatsApp to schedule a demo class for your child’s subject and class level.

What is the difference between AISSEE Class 6 and Class 9 preparation?

Class 6 preparation is primarily Mathematics and Reasoning-focused, at a Class 5 academic level. The competition is slightly lower than Class 9 but the Mathematics section is the most decisive. Class 9 preparation is broader and academically heavier โ€” it covers five subjects and requires strong command of Class 8 Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Class 9 preparation typically requires a minimum of 10 months for a student without prior coaching.

Do you prepare students for the medical and physical test after AISSEE?

Yes. Our residential programme includes daily physical training as part of the schedule. After the written exam, selected students are called for a medical examination and physical fitness test before final allotment. We prepare residential students specifically for this stage through regular PT, stamina-building exercises, and general fitness tracking throughout the programme.

Which Sainik Schools are most preferred by Delhi families?

Delhi families most frequently target Sainik School Kapurthala (Punjab), Sainik School Rewari (Haryana), Sainik School Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Sainik School Chail (Himachal Pradesh), and Sainik School Kunjpura (Haryana) due to their proximity to Delhi. However, allotment depends on exam rank and preference list. Check available seats and vacancies in Sainik Schools and review medical standards for Sainik Schools before finalising your target school. We counsel families on school selection based on proximity, facilities, and historical allotment data.

What is the AISSEE cut-off score?

AISSEE cut-off scores vary each year based on the total number of applicants, difficulty level of the paper, available seats, and category (General, SC, ST, Defence, Ex-Servicemen). Historical cut-offs for Class 6 have ranged from 55% to 75% for general category students, with school-specific variation. We track historical cut-offs and counsel students on target scores based on their preferred schools and categories.
