Why thousands of Indian families choose Sainik Schools — and why quality sainik school coaching is the key to getting in.
Sainik Schools produce the highest number of NDA selections of any school category in India. The residential military environment from Class 6 prepares students for an armed forces career unlike any other school.
Annual fees of ₹1.08–1.5 lakh cover tuition, hostel, meals, and uniform — heavily subsidised. SC/ST students and lower-income families receive government scholarships covering most or all fees.
Sainik Schools build discipline, leadership, teamwork, and physical fitness through NCC, adventure activities, and structured residential life — creating well-rounded individuals for any career.
All 133 Sainik Schools follow CBSE in a fully residential environment — the quality and discipline of a top boarding school at a fraction of the cost.
Since 2021, all 133 Sainik Schools admit girls with 20% reservation. Our sainik school coaching for girls includes dedicated girls coaching batches and a fully separate girls hostel at our Amritsar campus.
Sainik school coaching provides structured AISSEE preparation — covering Maths, English, Intelligence, and GK — through mock tests, doubt clearing, and expert mentorship. With over 50 students competing for every single seat, coached students statistically outperform self-prepared students by a significant margin. YSDA's students have a dramatically higher first-attempt selection rate than national averages. Self-study alone is rarely sufficient given the competitive cutoffs required.
For AISSEE Class 6, general category students typically need 200–250 out of 300 marks to get selected. For Class 9, the cutoff is around 280–320 out of 400. These cutoffs vary based on state quota, school preference, and competition intensity in a given year. SC/ST students have a lower cutoff. Punjab students targeting Sainik School Kapurthala face higher competition due to the state's strong coaching culture. YSDA's mock test analysis helps each student know their realistic target score.
Young Star Defence Academy offers India's most comprehensive online AISSEE coaching — live classes with AISSEE-specialist faculty, recorded sessions for revision, digital study material updated for the latest NTA pattern, weekly full-length mock tests, and dedicated doubt-clearing sessions. Our online students have been selected in Sainik Schools across every state. The programme is accessible from any device, from any district of India, at affordable fees.
For Class 6 entry: the student must be between 10 and 12 years of age as on 31st March, currently studying in Class V. For Class 9 entry: between 13 and 15 years as on 31st March, currently studying in Class VIII. These age limits are the same across all states. Use the Age Calculator above to check eligibility for sainik school coaching.
AISSEE Class 6 syllabus covers: Mathematics (50Q, 150 marks) — number systems, fractions, decimals, geometry, mensuration; Language/English (25Q, 50 marks) — grammar, comprehension, vocabulary; General Knowledge (25Q, 50 marks) — Indian geography, history, defence awareness, current affairs; Intelligence & Reasoning (25Q, 50 marks) — series, analogy, mirror images, coding-decoding. The exam is bilingual — Hindi or English.
Ideally 8–12 months before the exam. YSDA recommends starting from Class 4–5 for Class 6 entry, and Class 7 for Class 9 entry. Early starters develop stronger conceptual clarity and handle exam pressure more calmly. Students who join 2–3 months before the exam face a very steep challenge given the 50:1 competition ratio. YSDA accepts students from Class 3 onwards for foundation coaching.
No. AISSEE has absolutely no negative marking for any subject or class. All questions are objective MCQ with four options. Students should attempt every single question — even a guess gives a chance of earning marks. YSDA's strategy focuses on time management so students can attempt all 125 (Class 6) or 150 (Class 9) questions comfortably within the allotted time.
Sainik School annual fees are approximately ₹1.08 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh — covering tuition, hostel, meals, uniform, and activities. This is heavily subsidised by the central government. Students from SC/ST backgrounds and lower-income families receive government scholarships covering most or all of the fees. Many YSDA students attend Sainik School on full scholarship.
Yes. Girls from any state can join through our online programme or residential campus in Amritsar. We have a fully separate, safe girls hostel. Since 2021, all 133 Sainik Schools admit girls with 20% reservation per school. YSDA has dedicated girls coaching batches with female faculty mentors across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Sainik Schools offer: a direct NDA and armed forces pathway — sainik school coaching is the proven route to the highest NDA selection rate — subsidised CBSE residential education with government scholarships, discipline and leadership through NCC and sports, and a nationally recognised credential that opens doors in both military and civilian careers.
Each Sainik School has its own motto, but all share the same founding values. Sainik School Kapurthala — Punjab's only Sainik School — carries the motto "Knowledge, Humility and Discipline". Many other Sainik Schools follow the Sanskrit motto "Gyan, Anushasan, Sahyog" (ज्ञान, अनुशासन, सहयोग) — Knowledge, Discipline, and Esprit de Corps. These are precisely the values YSDA builds in every student from day one.
